FIFA 2015 on PS4

Every year, since 1998, I’ve bought one game religiously. It’s not FIFA, it’s been Pro Evolution Soccer. Why? Because it used to be the best football (soccer, whatever) simulator game on every console. Starting out on the PSX, moving through the PS2 and later on the PC (I’ve skipped most of the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions), it’s the game of choice. A game I play every year from October till October.

But since 2010 I’ve been trying FIFA again, FIFA was pretty damn bad in the mid 2000s but after 2009 and 2010 the game picked up pace and started to be good again after a 8 year lay-off. FIFA 15 is good but not great, my biggest issue I’ve got with FIFA – and this has been for quite some time – is that is treated like a American sport. The emphasis is on the half time replays, the pre-match spectacle but not on the time in between. Luckily this year, the gameplay is solid.

Deadlight on PC

It’s 2015 and the zombie game craze is still going.. I’m not sure when it started but it has to be around the first season of the Walking Dead which was 2010. Since then there has been a billion games and movies that were “inspired” by anything zombie related. Deadlight is one of them, and although not the best… it’s enjoyable to play.

Deadlight is wannabe indie game, and with that I mean it’s produced and marketed by Microsoft and made by Tequila Works which seems to be a bunch of people that used to work for big companies like Blizzard, Pyro Studios and Sony Entertainment. As you can see.. a real indie game.

Hotline Miami on PC

A keyboard breaker, that’s how I would call Hotline Miami. A game that makes me want to smash my keyboard against a wall and after 5 minutes pick it up again and give it another shot (after I put it back together).

Hotline Miami is a top down, 16bit (or whatever bit) 80’s inspired  hack & slash & shoot game.. I’m not sure that is the correct genre or a genre at all. What I do know is that the game is massively “indie” and it shines through in every aspect of the 5 hours it takes to finish the main story both in a positive and negative sense.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Review

One of my earliest video memories is playing The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind on my Compaq Pentium III computer at my parents place. I never really got that far because of my limited understanding of English, I had to be around 14 and although my English was alright it wasn’t good enough to understand any of the quests. Most of the time I was running around with a two-handed sword trying to kill people, not knowing that killing those guards patrolling the city wasn’t the way to go.

With The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim coming out a couple of years ago, I had a chance to redeem myself and go back to the world I once didn’t understand that well. I skipped Oblivion, I’m not sure why… could be that I didn’t care much about fantasy/rpgs for most of my teenage and early 20s.
